Joseph M. Lipstein

Joseph M. Lipstein was born in Brooklyn in 1918. He attended City College and New York University School of Law and was a practicing attorney for almost 50 years. He married his wife, Florence, in 1943 and had four children, Sidney, Zelda, Gary, and Ronnie. After having their first child, they moved from Brooklyn to Belle Harbor, Queens, where they lived until 1959.

In 1959 he moved his family to Woodmere where he lived for nearly 30 years. He was one of the pioneers of Woodmere's Jewish community and the Young Israel of Woodmere.

Joseph M. Lipstein was a serious and dedicated Jew. The Shul setting, prayer, the land of Israel, family, and thirst for knowledge played central roles in his life. It was, therefore, thought that an appropriate memorial would be the establishment of the Joseph M. Lipstein Torah Tape Library housing tapes from Torah scholars reflecting those same core values, which he considered utmost important in his life.
